RUNAWAY vs. LEARNING SECRETS
saturday, february 28th, beauty bar
This Saturday we couldn't be more excited and honored to be bringing down one of our favorite dj/production duo's who are stomping big through the current NYC disco scene.
RUNAWAY is consistently putting out the big bangers on labels like the classy Wurst Edits, Rekids, and naturally DFA.
Their breed of house and disco is super deep, super dark, and super thick. Come with an open mind, and some feet that aint gonna quit you on the dance floor.
This is sex music, this club music, this drug music, this amazing music!
We're still taking a few RSVPs for the cheap admission price, email rsvp@learningsecretsmusic.com to make sure you get in for $2. Other wise it'll be $5 at the door, which for this night is still an amazing deal.
ALSO THIS JUST IN!
We'll be having a nice little photo booth ran by our new buddy, and that dude who snapped you at Wild Life last week...Trevor Ray Thompson!
There'll also be a bunch of giveaways celebrating the DVD release of Choke, one of my favorite movies from the summer, mostly because of my twisted look outlook towards sex. We got anal beads, a couple of books, and some dvds to give out....yeah, seriously, anal beads.
Make sure you get yourself a little preview here of what to expect from RUNAWAY
Click to listen, Download to Enjoy, Support these artists and buy their records!!!!

BROWNOUT! LIVE AT LAMBERTS
come in smelling like roses, leave smelling like ribs mmmmm ribs
Just back from the Grammys, the righteous dudes, from Grupo Fantasma who spend their downtime moonlighting as Brownout! are going to take over Lambert's this Thursday.
They're just finishing up their new record, and it sounds totally insane. Perhaps we fall witness to some of the new delights the posse is brewing up.
Come early, stay late. Eat Sausage, or a Veggie Burger....i'm looking at you Jeramy.

LS 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TONIGHT
enough already, we heard you the first 20 times dude
Unless you've been living under a rock for the last three months, which in Austin might be a real possibility, except instead of a rock its a mountain of cocaine, Sparks, and American Apparel clothing, then you probably already know that tonight is a really big night for our little Learning Secrets.
Tonight we celebrate our 5 year anniversary!
We wanted to do something special this time around to say thank you to everybody who has shown Learning Secrets so much support over the years, and to hopefully win over a few new fans as well. So, we teamed up with Toyota to make sure we could try to keep this as free as possible.
What's the "this" I am refering to...how about DJ sets by Andy Butler from Hercules and Love Affair and Pat Mahoney from LCD Soundsystem!!
Prototype Vintage is decking the place out something special, and Annie Ray is going to make you look pretty and take over your social networking site. You'll also be able to pick up a hot of the presses LS t-shirt FOR FREE, thanks to the good people from Toyota Antics.
The RSVP list is nutso full, so you're going to want to get there as early as possible to make a night of it. Jeramy and I will be on warm up duty.
and, as a special treat heres a new demo from my Secret Lips project. I'll probably be dropping this tonight. Hope you enjoy.

RUNAWAY
like robotripping at the paradise garage
Even though our hugely massive, and totally badical 5 yr anniversary is still a few days away, and you're probably just now recovering from the party with Juan Maclean and Liv from Still Going, we're gonna keep the body slams coming, and start hyping you on our special guests for February's party with the ever exquisite RUNAWAY!!
We honestly couldn't be more excited to be finally getting these two guys down here. The two handsome gentlemen that make up Runaway, Jacques Renault and Marcos Cabral, are intimidation inspiring and eye-popping DJs and producers in their own right, but together the two have constructed a powerhouse whose productions on Wurst Edits, Rekids, and DFA make your insides feel as if they'll ooze out of your underroos and all over the dance floor.
The amazing drugged out, faggy funk, disco thump, of their house anthems is THE Runaway sound. Made for packed, dark dance floors, and for sexually ambiguous boys and girls dosed out on X. Tracks like their massive "Brooklyn Club Jam" or "Ain't Afraid to Beg," demand that you slut yourself up if you plan on approaching the floor when the duo is behind the decks. This shit is serious, and it has mad flavor, and impeccable taste. Its that new new, next next shit. Forget fuzzed out basslines, saw synths, and generic agro club beats, that shit is for beginners and poseurs. Now this shit right here, this shit right here is house music--the real deal!
So save the date, Saturday February 28th. Cover will be around $3 probably unless we can make it free. We'll see you all this Saturday though for our 5 YR anniversary at Beauty Bar with DJ sets from Andy Butler ( Hercules & Love Affair) and Pat Mahoney ( LCD Soundsystem / Special Disco Versions). Come early, its sold out!!!!
Runaway has a new mix of looped out house jams that you need to pick up...get ready Austin, Learning Secrets in February just may change your life!...if our anniversary party doesnt!

FROM WYMAN TO HIMEN
setting sail on a sea of 2000 women
From Rolling Stone bass player to writing one of my favorite jams;Bill Wyman, making me smile when things are a bit too Sunday, even for a Sunday. A fun little fact, in 1989 Mr. Wyman married his then 18 year old girlfriend, whom he had been dating since she was 13 years old. Wyman was born in 1936. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
